CHAPTER 1 My name is Peculiar Udochukwu, I am a girl, I am from Imo State, Nigeria. I was rejected by my father because, I am a girl child. My story is an unveiled one. I grew as a girl child without a father, my mummy stood by me all-through. My dad sent me and my mum to the village because my mummy gave birth to a girl-child. My mummy struggled to train me through school. One day, I sat outside the house with my mummy, I was telling her that, "mummy, why do men reject their children if it is a girl child?" most especially in our country, Nigeria. My mum replied, "Peculiar, you know it is one of the customs and traditions in Nigeria, most especially the Igbo tribes, that once you don't have a male child, you cannot get any titles in their community. They even go far to say that if a man does not have a male child, that man is impotent. They also go as far to say that girls are worthless beings will end up in the kitchen of another man's house".
